Leadership Approaches and Models in Health Care
Leadership is the process of directing others in the performance of particular activities to attain shared organizational goals. Good leadership is crucial as it has a perspective in enhancing performance and overall organizational productivity. Within a healthcare setting, leadership helps improve patient care outcomes and operational efficiency in managing day to day activities. Like in other sectors, most healthcare facilities grapple with finding an effective leader. Part of the reason is that leadership needs are multi-dynamic, situational, and dependent on specific contexts such as the staff experience, internal policies, organizational culture, and routine operational activities. A thorough discussion on clinical leadership coupled with the modeling of leadership will provide an opportunity for assessing its role in healthcare performance and insights in developing effective leadership.

The ability to navigate this leadership and double as the needed leader is a mark of exceptionality to serve as an effective leader (Tretiakov, Whiddett, & Hunter, 2017). Far from this, an effective leader helps to redefine and reset the organizational culture. According to Sfantou et al. (2017), a leader has a primary duty for setting a workplace environment that supports productivity. This can be achieved in several ways, such as providing friendly policies, institutions of certain incentives, and redefining the facility's governing values. Besides, consistent with a charismatic leader's requirements, entitlement with certain qualities such as courage and intelligence is inherently significant. They determine how well one is suited to rally other care providers towards achieving certain healthcare goals. Besides, effective leadership is need for change management, which is an inevitable aspect in healthcare.
The concept of regulatory management in healthcare encompasses promoting innovation and fostering cooperation for organizational performance. Such a leader is endowed with ...
