Government Conflicts and the Covid-19 in Syria

Research Paper Instructions:

Basically it's just a research paper, but no needs of opening, and concluding paragraphs, just focus on three or more body paragraphs. Most importantly, the topic I chose is *How is Syria dealing with both government conflicts and Covid-19 disease? Appropriately cite your sources in your writing.
Sources that you can refer on are:
1. https://theconversation(dot)com/in-war-torn-syria-the-coronavirus-pandemic-has-brought-its-people-to-the-brink-of-starvation-144794
2. https://www(dot)nytimes(dot)com/2020/12/19/world/covid-syria-surge-warning.html
And an example paragraph of the assignment:
First of all, cell phone radiation causes brain cell damage that could affect people’s memory. Radiation is energy that is created by a certain device and then travels through space to another (“Radiation”, n.d). Low levels of radiation are good for the human body; however, high radiation over long periods of time is dangerous to the human body. When the exposure is around 5 to 10 rems, the blood chemistry appears to change in the human body. Moreover, under the exposure of 75 rems for 2 to 3 weeks could cause hair loss, vomiting, and fatigue (“Health Effects,” 2012). Nevertheless, the United States only limits to 160 rem per second for cell phone manufacturers which means the cellular radiation from cell phones could cause memory loss because the radiation damages nerve cells in the brain (Parker-Pope, 2008). According to the science article “Cell Phones are Affecting Memory”, a structure known as blood-brain barrier works as a fence that prevents other matters from brain recurrence whereas radiation could stop this structure. If this fence stops working, the nerve cells will be damaged. At the same time, radiation could hurt the hippocampus and cerebral cortex, which are the memory centers of the brain (“Cell Phones are Affecting Memory,” 2013). If the memory centers of the brain get damaged, the capability of memory will decrease. For example, many patients nowadays are suffering from radiation necrosis, which means they have a large area of dead cells in their brains (“Side Effects of Radiation to Specific Areas,” 2012). These people tend to have a hard time remembering information in their lives. It not only brings the pain to the patients, but also to their families. Although radiation could cause damage to people’s memory, it takes a long period of time. People could prevent this damage by using hand-free devices such as headphones or have short conversations when calling others (“Cell Phone Radiation Scams,” 2011).

Syria has been a civil war zone in the past decade. The wars have led to poor health care facilities even before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 patients have suffered from a lack of proper medical care since hospitals have run out of unoccupied beds and life-supporting machines (Asseburg, 2020). However, the government of Syria has taken some other measures that have helped control the impacts of COVID-19. In the case of the pandemic, the Syrian government has taken general measures. After the deep spread of the pandemic to the country, it has closed its border, restricted travel between rural and urban areas, shut schools and restaurants, and implemented a nationwide curfew. However, currently, schools and other shutdown sectors are reopening with anti-coronavirus measures.
Through support from NGOs and actors in the Syrian conflicts, the USA and Russia, the Syrian government has controlled the conflicts. Right now, the civil wars seem like it coming to an end. The actors have helped the Syrian government to eliminate most of its enemies. Therefore, during this pandemic, there are limited cases of wars. The conflict has led to the destruction of hospitals and most medical workers getting killing. This situation has left the country so vulnerable to the Covid-19 pandemic. Quantitively, around 40% of Syrian hospitals have been destroyed (Sen, Sen, Al-Faisal & AlSaleh, 2020). The government's inability to fight the pandemic by itself has made the actors and UK's NGO take action. The US Defense provides $200 million after cutting down from $300 million. The government of Syria uses the money to support counter-terrorism. In August 2020, the United States government dedicated approximately $32.4 million to help treat and prevent Covid-19.
Both the pandemic and the conflicts have assisted in fighting each other mutually. The impacts of covid-19 have weakened the enemies. Most enemies prefer being on the Syrian government's side to the opposition (Ozalp, 202...
