Introduction
Communication and constant learning are some of the most vital skills in the field of health care. These allow not only for the provision of quality care towards the patient but also the overall improvement of the field. However, practicing these two are not as easy to accomplish. Several roadblocks could lead to miscommunication within the team and the stagnancy of knowledge amongst healthcare professionals. On the one hand, miscommunication could affect how employees perform and could lead to fatal consequences. On the other hand, stagnancy could lead to a deteriorating effect on the quality of healthcare, due to the inability to deal with new circumstances. Circumstances that could arise from new strains of diseases (i.e., a new strain of Bird Flu) and uncontrollable demographic factors (i.e., insufficiency of the workforce to deal with the number of patients). In line with this, this study would focus on understanding how communication and knowledge-acquisition can be improved through the help of the Data/Information/Knowledge/Wisdom Continuum. Notably, it would zero in on the issue of pain management amongst patients.
Pain Management
As stated earlier, pain management among patients is one of the most heavily debated issues in the field of medicine. On the one hand, scholars and practitioners alike argue that the use of a non-pharmacological method (i.e., physical therapy) is the best way to deal with pain. This reduces the risks of any other complications arising from the use of medications. On the other hand, there is also the one who argues that pharmacological methods could help the patient relieve the pain much faster, which helps in their ability to function effectively after a short period. This opportunity could then be used to allow patients to be discharged earlier or focus on other treatments that could help improve their condition.

While the facts provided above are common knowledge among healthcare professionals, each of these approaches has their advantages and disadvantages. In order to have a better understanding of this, it would be best to search for peer-reviewed articles that specifically talks about it.
