The intervention should be an independent, specified nursing change intervention. The intervention cannot require a provider prescription. Include a comparison to a patient population not currently receiving the intervention, and specify the timeframe needed to implement the change process.
Formulate a PICOT statement using the PICOT format provided in the assigned readings. The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project.

PICOT Statement: For the aging patients, influenza vaccine application compared to no vaccination will reduce the possibility of pneumonia contraction during the flu season.

P stands for patient pollution of which in this case they are aging patients. I stands for Intervention, and in this case, influenza vaccination is. C stands for comparison, and in this case, no influenza vaccination is what the intervention is being compared to. O is the outcome, and in this case, the outcome is a reduced possibility of contracting pneumonia. T stands for time and the time here is during the flu period.
Among the aging population, pneumonia has been a common cause of mortality and morbidity in this category of population. The main causality of pneumonia is Streptococcus pneumonia. Other risk factors for pneumonia include alcoholism, chronic cardiac and respiratory disease, increasing age and institutionalization. Residents that have distinctly subpopulations of elderly people showcase high risks of contracting pneumonia. This population exhibits characteristics which act as modifiers of the risk factors. These characteristics include sedative receipt, swallowing difficulties and witnessed aspirations.
On the onset of the flu, those infected can have a miserable experience. The infected complain of a series of body aches, sore throat, fatigue, chills, running nose, coughs and fever among others.
