Question 1
Community Health Nursing deals with collaboration with communities in an equal setting as partners to enhance primary health prevention, as well as health promotion. As a community health nurse hoping to achieve a high-quality life that is free from preventable diseases, disability, injury, and premature death, I would focus on preventive care. This means taking actions that promote diseases from occurring and reducing their incidence. The plan includes generating health programs such as immunization, promoting smoking cessation, encouraging communities to participate in regular exercises, proper nutrition, and other actions like pollution control (Lundy et al, 2014, p. 17).
Achieving health equity and eliminating health disparities would be accomplished by promoting circulation of socio-economic resources required in health. This means as a nurse I would ensure constant distribution of health-related substances or medications in an effort to reduce particular conditions. For instance, the distribution of free condoms would help in minimizing teen pregnancies and even sexually transmitted diseases (Lundy et al, 2014).
Creation of social and physical environment that promotes health care can be achieved by encouraging the prevention of environmental pollution. Being a community health nurse, I would work with environmentalists to ensure that the community surroundings like footpaths, drainage, and toxic substances are controlled (Lundy et al, 2014). This is because a polluted environment can be a cause of health problems that strike the community.
In my capacity as a community health nurse, I would promote quality of life, healthy development, and healthy behaviors across all life stages through the initiation of healthy nutrition for the community. This means education members of my community on the importance of healthy eating to prevent most diseases. Proper eating behaviors result in healthy people both physically and emotionally (Lundy et al, 2014).
Family Recovery Specialists is an intervention program located in Miami, Florida, which offers adolescents and adult substance abusers a chance for counseling, treatment as well as consultation. They provide valuable life skills to substance abuse patients and guide them on the right path for a sustainable lifestyle. They create a treatment plan for each individual or family to ensure the success of the patient in a healthy environment. The facility is equipped with professional therapists, physicians, and consultants who understand the problem of drug abuse among young people and adults (Family Recovery Specialists, 2015).
Question 2
Basic and advanced practice nursing in correctional facilities differs essentially from care given outside the correctional sector. The basic and advanced nursing care that is offered outside prison facilities in most cases involved state-of-the-art equipment and even skills. Patient care outside correctional settings includes taking the highest standards to ensure the patient feels safe and secure. However, basic and advanced nursing care in correctional facilities in most instances involves low-quality equipment that are on a small budget. ...
