Labor is an important factor of production. It is considered to be an input employed in an organization in order to produce a certain output. Besides, workers are one of the biggest assets that organizations have. Labor shortage is a common workforce real issue that is often encountered by organizations. This means that the current workers cannot be outlaid easily and be replaced with others. Furthermore, the performing planning cycle is a real issue whereby a business undergoes recession and succession period depending on the market conditions. Another real workforce issue that is often faced by organization is the issue of revenue shortfalls which might reduce the organizations profits hence this might bar development and expansion. Maintenance of the current workforce might be quite risky as the organization puts effort to improve its workforce. Therefore, the real workforce issues pose as challenges to an organization but also strengthens performance since manager are able to identify areas that need improvement in an organization.
Current Workplace Reality
Our organization has provided an enabling working condition where we are able to execute duties in an organized and efficient way. However, as an entity, we do face challenges in the workforce planning. By definition, workforce planning refers to a continuous approach employed in an organization to bring to line the organizations priorities and needs in a bid to meet its regulatory, legislative, service, and production requirements. In addition, workforce planning is one of the core goals of human resource department. The HRM representative is responsible for analyzing the current workforce in terms of skills, experience, and quality of an employee and relates them with an organizations performance (Martin, 2009). In our company, for example, is facing challenges in improving the organizations performance because this has been at a certain level for a period of three years. In addition, management and maintenance requires regular training of the employees. As a result there is a likelihood of good performance through increase of output in the entity (Heneman and Judge, 2006).
As a company, the HRM applies continues changes and trying to determine the loopholes and areas that offer a promising future. In this case, we are always able to correct areas that bring down the organization and apply extra input in strongholds of the organization. Staffing, for instance is a common activity that always takes place in the company whereby we regularly employ skilled laborers to undertake the technical duties that require expertise knowledge. In this regard, our organization experiences changes especially when the performance is not at a good stage. Therefore, the workforce planning in the organization involves an analysis of the current situation and relating it with the future goals(Martin, 2009). This helps to determine whether we are on track towards achieving the objectives and goals set. Therefore, workforce planning can at times be challenging hence requires prudent approaches in order to ensure success in the organization.
