Building Germany`s holocaust Memorial
In 2005, the German politicians and Jewish leaders unveiled the Holocaust Memorial Building in Berlin. This was the first monument of its kind in Germany. It stands on a 204,440 square foot piece of land located between East and West Berlin of the Cold War era.
The memorial is made up of 2700 concrete slabs that signify the millions of Jewish lives cut short by the Nazi regime under Adolf Hitler. It is also an historical fact that other peoples such as the Roma, German male Homosexuals, mentally retarded individuals, dissenting clergy men as well as Jehovah`s Witnesses were greatly affected.
