However much I understood that citizenship was ordinarily civilian, after the lecture I was surprised to learn that there is more to citizenship. I discovered that civil citizenship focuses on equality before the law and individual rights, political citizenship centers on the right to vote or engage in decision making plus social citizenship in which everyone ought to enjoy economic and cultural well-being (Knight, 2020).
I have learned that power is the capacity to control an outcome. Weber describes power as the probability within a social relationship where one actor is in a position to carry out his own will despite resistance. I have also learned that there are three dimensions of power. The first dimension comprises an individual gaining power through coercion, where they concentrate on the ‘exercising of power.
