What’s something from the lectures this week that surprised you?
How we can use local productions such as Mad Men to understand how work has changed over the years. Just by watching a couple of episodes from the show, one begins to get an idea of how different people conducted themselves while at work during the 1950s. This was a time when people specialized in certain fields with the highest level of expertise. Today, the situation is different. Many jobs are not that reliant on the full expertise of the individual. Also, once graduates get into the job market, they have to be flexible enough to maintain their jobs. In short, today, it is almost a jack-of-all-trades practice in the job market.
