Guidelines on Post-tutorial Reflection Notes
Each student chooses to write tutorial notes , each with around 500 words, out of the 6 tutorial topics
The number of words allowed for each post-tutorial note is 500 words (+10%). Submissions with 551 words and above will have marks deducted proportionally. Please use your NAME listed on SID as the file name.
Post-tutorial reflection notes will be assessed on your abilities to:
• Identify relevant issues/concepts after attending the tutorial
• Examine one’s understanding and standpoint on the selected concept/issue to generate new
thoughts
• Reflection for growth and development
• Writing and use of English
• Proper use of referencing
Students could think along the following when generating new thoughts or ideas for the reflection notes:
1. What’s your understanding of the tutorial topic? Knowledge before the lesson and after the lesson, is there any differences?Would there be any difference from the presenting group? Would there be any difference from the presenting group? The differences can be new thoughts or new learning. Or,
2. Will there be differences between your understanding on the topic pre- and post-tutorial? The differences can be new thoughts or new learning.
3. In case if you could not think of any differences, you could use a different example to illustrate the tutorial topic. That might give you alternative understanding of the topic.
4. You might also relate the tutorial topic and the discussion to your personal life and/or observations from the centre/agency that you attached for Agency Exposure Scheme or real-life work setting. That might give you insights on new ideas.
After generating ideas, you could start to read two or three articles on the topic, organize your thoughts and remember to relate the new thoughts to the topic when you write.

Funding and providing services to the targeted groups efficiently are issues encountered in social work. There are other issues, such as the influence of religious values on society. Social workers interact with service users from diverse backgrounds, mostly marginalized, low-income, and disfranchised individuals, families, and communities. The socially sanctioned social work interventions may clash with religious beliefs, but social workers should focus on service users’ best interests and their conscience. There are different factors affecting social work practice issues such as organizational impacts, accountability, laws, and ethical dilemma.
There is public funding of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) through grants, cooperative agreements and contracts, but still expect that there is independence and flexibility allowing the organizations to provide services. Nonetheless, there is insufficient funding by social welfare service agencies, yet the service providers are expected to do more with less funding. In Hong Kong the Social Welfare Department (SWD) and Funding and Service Agreements (FSAs) influence the administration of lump sum grants, funding, and service provision. The issue of salaries and paying social workers is contentious as they are involved in social welfare matters, where there is a need to address the needs and interests of diverse people.
Laws regulate and constrain behavior, and standards and regulations adopted are closely linked to law. While there is recognition of the need to promote social change and organizations being more active in facilitating social work, organizations and agencies must operate within the law.
