The book is well-laid out and offers relevant leadership information in a practical manner through case studies, questionnaires, observational exercises, and reflection and action worksheets. Reading through the book, I found it not only insightful but also capable of helping one discover their leadership style and reshaping their perception of leadership complexities. I enjoyed reading the book and I was significantly informed on many aspects of leadership. The case studies, questionnaires, observational exercises, and reflections and action worksheets make the book interactive and as such, one can easily understand the key leadership concepts presented.
The presence of case studies in each chapter of the book makes it more insightful and practical. I tend to believe that theory alone is not enough to help one understand leadership concepts. While one can read and understand the concepts of leadership, cases studies stretch one’s imagination to perceive what is learned from a real-world point of view. I believe that by reading the case studies presented in the chapter, one’s imagination of how leadership applies in the real world is enhanced to a great extent. When the author describes a practical situation through the case studies, I cannot help but seek to address the problem through what I have learned. By connecting the case studies to the concepts in the book, one can understand how theory is applicable in real-world situations. Personally, I feel I’m more aware of how leadership plays out in the real world just from reading the book. Therefore, I think I’ve become a better leader through reading the book and the case studies have made a significant contribution to this change. The case studies in the book make it more practical and insightful.
The questionnaires presented at the end of each chapter also make the book interactive to the reader and contributes to a great extent towards one’s understanding of the concepts presented. I found them interactive and capable of invoking curiosity and further research. I believe the questionnaires helps one understand the concepts better while connecting them to real-life situations. In the second chapter, I found the questionnaire helpful as I believe it helped me understand myself better.
