In his speech, following 2019 the two mass shootings in Dayton (Ohio) and El Paso (Texas), President Trump said, "We must stop the glorification of violence in our society…including the gruesome and grisly video games that are now a common place" CITATION Sid19 \l 2057 (Siddiqui, 2019). The blame on video games is a political issue and a social issue where there is an intersection of two distinct cultures that often receive blame on either side of the political divide: the gaming culture and the American gun culture.
Purpose of Study
Therefore, the purpose of the current outline is to establish grounds on which the Presidents words can be interrogated and either proved or debunked based on existing peer-reviewed literature. This is an important topic because it excludes political interests and gimmicks that surround the issue of gun violence to provide a rational understanding of current and emerging scientific evidence that either oppose or support the idea that video games contribute to gun violence.
