* Introduction:
Immigration is an integral part of world politics since it is inherently political and international in nature. The interests and power of states are influenced by their location in migration systems: the ability of nations to apply diplomacy or pursue state interests is impacted by the extent to which they are migration-receiving, transit states, or migration-sending (Mitchell, 1989). Migration is a central component of state functions and interests in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Italy, and Greece as migration-receiving and transit states. For instance, Jordan and Turkey have managed to use their position in migration systems as migration-receiving states and transit states to negotiate with the European Union for more aid if they are to continue accommodating refugees from Syria. Heightened migratory flows across migration-receiving, transit states, and migration-sending states affect diplomatic interactions between nations in the international system and form the focus of interstate diplomacy (Weiner, 1985).

3 States have a monopoly over their territories and therefore possess a legitimate interest in maintaining their national boundaries and controlling migration flows.
* Support
1 Migration-receiving and transit states tend to employ their position in global migration systems as a political bargaining chip, particularly their ability to negotiate and control migration flows to other countries.
2 The ability of states to effectively apply diplomatic tools and procedures to manage migratory flows is also dependent on other factors such as global influence and available resources (Messina & Gallya Lahav, 2006).
3 Migration diplomacy is not restricted to managing cross-border population mobility but can also include other state interests that do not relate to migration: the strategic control of migration flows can be used to achieve other international relations objectives.
* Topic Sentence 3: Society is divided into the capitalists and the working class: a person’s position is largely the result of their production means.
* Support
1 Power relations between the capitalists and the working class are typically exploitative and are bound to result in class conflict.
