Through the process of digestion, the food moves through the body and gest broken into reduced pieces. Small molecules of the food particles get absorbed from the digestive system into the bloodstream. This ensures that the body can benefit from these nutrients. These nutrients are used for repair and energy. For example, proteins are used in the building and maintenance of body tissues. Nutrients escape through the walls of the intestine into the blood and then to other parts of the body (Brown, 2018).
