Abstract
The study will analyze what communications opportunities Twitter offers to marginalized populations groups. The recent emergency of mass demonstrations in society created global attention on social platforms to address issues of human rights violations. The voices and issues of marginalized communities, including people of color have attracted significant attention from professional journalists and government policy apparatus in the recent past. Violence against women, police brutality, economic crisis, leadership, and prolonged marginalization of vulnerable groups were advanced as the reasons behind the rapid rise of protest. Through effective communication among social groups, such as the use of current technological platforms, including Twitter, has helped update, organize, and plan most of the protests globally. Based on textual analysis, it could be postulated that Twitter, as a communication platform, is not a practical communication approach for social and political reform coordination and mobilization, particularly amongst vulnerable societies. This is because most social communications are linked with people's emotional feelings and geographical barriers, which undermines the capacity to emply Twitter within such contexts.

Research Topic: To investigate the effectiveness of Twitter as a social change communication instrument among marginalized groups. I am defining effectiveness as the Twitter’s capacity to create unprecedented opportunities for interactions and expression among marginalized groups and activists.
