2019 was when people were still able to freely communicate with each other until the outbreak of pneumonia with an unknown origin was discovered in China. This led to a pandemic called coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and left thousands of lives at stake (Ciotti et al. 2020). The change drastically happened as people were announced to implement precautionary measures to decrease transmission, especially emphasized in the cases of health workers (World Health Organization 2020).
As personal protective equipment was the most sourced precautionary measure for all health workers due to its advantages (World Health Organization 2020: Ha 2020), it is provided for free will significantly help the organization in both financial and health factors. On the other hand, a possible alternative for extending the free distribution of the equipment could be the proper and ideal budgeting where both consumers and manufacturers will be positively affected. And with the help of the Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, and Removed Model (SEIR), the rate of infected people could be explained despite the chaos of various information provided by different organizations (Postavaru, Anton & Toma 2021).
By determining the increase and decrease of infected people would provide an ample amount of influence in the deciding factor. At the same time, this will support the possible factors that the government should consider for the extension. Since due to the significant outbreak that faced the whole world, the shortage of personal protective equipment posed a problem for the people. This emphasizes the importance of free personal protective equipment regarding its correct distribution by the government and adequate training.
Extension of Free Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Giving a chance to be provided with free personal protective equipment is a favor that the world needs from their administration and government. Favoring such actions presents it that these pieces of equipment would be more accessible for the health workers and, at the same time, will significantly help them in their everyday life at work. But with this course of action, the market will be constrained, and the government will continually intervene with the demand and supply (Department of Health & Social Care 2021).
This relieves the possible alternative of implementing the ideal budget plan that does not compromise both the consumer and manufacturer. A study explained that people viewed these types of equipment as a cost since these are priced higher due to demand. The authors even suggested possible budget proposals that could intervene for the socioeconomic problem. One case was that the patients would have the burden to pay for the free equipment, while other cases refer to when the demand dramatically increases. This creates the idea of revisiting the budgeting model towards personal protective equipment (Cohen & van de Meulen Rodgers 2020).
