The issue of animal rights has been positively influenced by the internet in that it has helped to enlighten the masses on the cruelty subjected to animals, to share the proper means of treating animals, and to push the government to implement policies for the protection of these animals.
Animal rights refer to the legal entitlements that are granted to nonhuman animals.
These attributes are as a result the complexity of their emotional, social lives, and cognitive, as well as their ability to experience pain, emotions, and pleasure.
People on Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the biggest organization that supports animal rights and they use social media as a means of engaging the public (PETA 2018).
The analysis describes how the animal organizations communicate using the model of communication by Shannon and Weaver. The normative theory will also be discussed, as well as the influence of mass media using the media dependency theory.
