Animal research. Does the type of animal make a difference in your answer?

Though the United States government has allowed research on animals terming it necessary and beneficial, animal activists argue that the practice is torturous on the animals and should be banned (Pound & Bracken, 2014). Research on animals is mostly done for procedures that cannot be performed on humans. Throughout history, scientific research has helped improve health care. Through the use of animal research, understanding of the anatomy, and physiology of the human body, as well as the natural course of diseases, has been made possible. This has, in turn, led to the improvement of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. I believe that animal research can help address the various diseases affecting humankind in this period. It is for this reason that I support scientific research using animals.
