Purely Domestic Extremist Group
The United States has faced challenges brought by external and internal terrorism. According to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), internal violence extremism is the most severe radical threat to the nation compared to external attacks. In 2021, the DHS identified that the danger of domestic violent extremism in the State had elevated (Youngblood, 2020). Some domestic extremisms in the US include the far-right group, far-left wing, and religious perpetrators. This paper discusses the far-right extremists, their grievances, and how the organizations' ideologies help recruit members and promote joint action for the group. In addition, the report covers the methods which the movement uses to influence and communicate its narratives (Mudde, 2022). Lastly, the essay addresses individual-level psychological thoughts and group-level drivers for political violence in the form of terrorism.
The far right-wing extremist is responsible for numerous violence and killings in the United States. Although the group has existed for several decades, its influence has increased significantly in recent years. According to the Center for Strategic and international studies, more than half of the terrorists' plots and attacks in the United States since 2011 involve the actions of far-right terrorists. In 2019 the group was liable for nearly two-thirds of abortive, obstructive, and successful attacks (Youngblood, 2020). Furthermore, since 2013, the federal bureau of Investigation (FBI) has associated the far right extremist with more terrorist violence than religiously motivated perpetrators, left-wing ethno-nationalists, and external terrorists.
Various ideologies and organizations are allied with far-right terrorists. These beliefs are categorized into anti-government, racist, and nativist extremism. The anti-government extremists see the government as their enemy. These individuals often implore historical delusions to the American Uprising to justify fighting local, State, and federal governments that they identify as tyrannical (Mudde, 2022). Racist extremists involve people who aim to protect their racial identity since they believe that other racial groups are a threat. Similarly, nativists are inspired by the need to guard their community and themselves against foreign organizations, ideas, and people. Most of these individuals believe a nation should only contain people with a common racial, religious, ethnic, linguistic, and cultural identity. Therefore, these ideologies can be accomplished by forcing non-similar people to embrace the prevailing identity or completely exclude them from the nation (Holt et al., 2022). In summary, the actions of the far right can be inferred as efforts to belittle minorities and encourage racial, cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and religious homogeneity in a community.
The far right-wing philosophies promote the enrollment of members and act as a force that drives collective action for the group. Foremost, the ideas are structured to show the group is protecting people's liberty against government rules and intrusion. In addition, the wing has several ideologies and subgroups, ...
