Pillars

What have you read about how the economy impacts each of society's pillars today? (Use your textbook and other academic readings.)

What have you observed about how the economy impacts each of society's pillars today? (Draw upon your own personal experience.)

How does your community impact the pillars?

How has technology impacted each of the pillars?

Politics

I read that the economy affects the relationship of both the government and politicians with how they interact with the public. On the one hand, leaders are more capable of delivering promises when there is significant economic growth (Henslin, 2017). On the other hand, the citizens are more determined or inclined for politicians to provide actual change.

Based on my personal experience, the economy affects politics because politicians depend on their campaign strategy based on their economic outlook. On the one hand, when there is a shortage of food and work available, most politicians tend to focus more on giving and providing aid. On the other hand, however, when there is economic growth, they tend to focus more on strategies that would increase their reach.

However, if the economy is in downfall, this is less likely considering the costs of establishing a family.

In my personal observation, the economy affects the family mainly if it directly affects its livelihood. There have been several instances when the parents of my friends had a quarrel because they were laid-off. These instances increase the pressure among family members, especially between parents.

Our community, particularly our neighborhood, affects the pillar because it also acts as a buffer in these instances. Notably, even if an economic decline causes rising commodities prices, our community tends to help one another. There were also instances when a community pantry was established to help everyone.

Technology helped impact marriage and family directly and indirectly. On the one hand, the presence of technology affects family relations indirectly since it provides more employment opportunities even in times of economic crises (Henslin, ...
