John Bul Dau's God Grew Tired of Us focuses on the experiences of three Sudanese "Lost Boys" during the 1980s Sudanese civil war. The boys experience war atrocities, and while they escape they face challenges adjusting to life in the U.S. In the film, there is a strong affinity to one’s ethnic group, community or tribe.
