The purpose of this discussion is to give you the opportunity to apply ethical theories to the complex issue of ageism in the workplace, particularly in the area of employment. In the modern workplace, there appear to be the following three key issues that exhibit ageism in employment, some of which have been exacerbated by recent economic issues and an aging population.
Older job seekers fight ageism as a barrier to re-employment.
Younger job seekers have trouble obtaining career entry.
Evidence in many countries highlights that older worker employment and youth employment are not connected in any way.
Prepare and post a response to the following prompt:
Using at least one ethical perspective or theory from the text and one item of scholarly evidence, present an argument to a group of younger workers (regarding older worker and youth employment) in which you refute the notion that older workers take employment from the young.

Date The narrative around the concept of ageism is a prejudice that is biased and unfair, especially on a person's age. Therefore, the United States Department of Labor has enacted the 'Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA)' to protect specific groups of applicants and employees aged 40 and above, particularly during hiring, promotions, discharge from duty, or even during compensations. In a working environment, ageism is evident in various ways that are not limited to referring to another employee's age, team building activities that group employees based on age, training and development activities that are age-sensitive, and even inconsistencies in working policies that focus on family pillars and commitments. Therefore, a human being is prone to age immediately after they are born and throughout their lifetime. Thus there's a need to respond positively and consciously to these life changes. This can be achieved through various factors, including gender, cultural belief, education level, geographical location, and even lifestyle. According to the Population Reference Bureau (2016), the American population aged 65 years and above is likely to double from 47 million today to over 99 million by 2060, indicating that the older generation will be working longer. Further, the Bureau estimates that by 2023, the percentage of people above 65 years in the workforce will increase from 23 percent men and 15 percent women to 28 percent of men and 21 percent women.
