#1: Belcher et al. (2021)
Summary
The article explores the paramount role that physical activity (PA), exercise, and aerobics play in enhancing the mental well-being of adolescents. According to the article, PA exercise and fitness are resilience factors that can help promote self-regulation. Further, the authors explore how impairments in self-regulation are prevalent in an extensive scope of mental health disorders. Finally, the article also outlines how PA, exercise, and fitness facilitate resilience among adolescents.
Analysis
Maintaining physical fitness and mental well-being during adolescence form the gist of the article. The authors articulate, in length, how critical physical activity and fitness enhance resilience and mental well-being by reinforcing brain self-regulation mechanisms. In a word, the article explicitly proposes that one of the surest ways that adolescents can look after their overall health is through PA, exercise, and fitness.
#2: Jackson et al. (2019)
Summary
The article focuses on the relationship between sexual decline and predictors of mental health and well-being. A study conducted by the authors of the report established that a higher number of people with depressive symptoms experience a decline in sexual desire.
Analysis
Undoubtedly, sexuality forms an integral part of human life and encompasses such aspects as sexual identities, pleasure, and intimacy, among others. All the aspects are crucial, but pleasure probably takes the central part. People who cannot perform optimally and achieve pleasure from sex tend to become gravely concerned. This article seeks to figure out why older people get deprived of pleasure by experiencing a decline in sexual desire or frequency. From the findings of the study conducted by the authors, men with suppressed life satisfaction experienced a decline in sexual desire. Meanwhile, women in similar situations exhibited a decline in the frequency of sexual activities.
#3: Beerepoot et al. (2022)
Summary
The article explores the association between sexuality and longevity. In this regard, the authors outline how sexual satisfaction, or lack of it, affects longevity. They aver that sexuality and intimacy provide emotional support, which, in turn, protects against mortality. The article also shows that the success of the association between sexuality and longevity depends on various factors, such as demographic, emotional, and social factors.
Analysis
Conventionally, people believe they can live longer if they get sexual enjoyment and satisfaction. That said, the inability to function sexually in older people worries them immensely, and some seek unconventional ways to boost their libido. This article gives a heft on the maxim and sheds more light on how sexuality impacts longevity. For instance, the authors intimate that the impact of sexual enjoyment on longevity is more significant in people who find sexuality worthy.
