Team Identity
Team identity describes the extent to which the team members relate to the team rather than the team's goals. From a broader perspective, it refers to the extent to which members remain loyal to a team rather than the organization (Widdowson & Barbour, 2021). Team identity is so important because evidence has revealed that when team identity is strong, the team tremendously succeeds in achieving its goals. Further, with a greater team identity, members are better placed to manage perceptions and create a strong sense of belonging. At the end of the day, the organization benefits from the accelerated progress emanating from strong team identities.
