Topics discussed include “Introduction of Plants; Leaves, Stem, and Roots” and “the Center of Agriculture and Green Revolution.” The focus on agriculture, for example, is pivotal in the contemporary society that is increasingly exposed to food shortages. Agriculture is associated with healthcare, and since I am in my last semester in Medical Office Administration, it is important to understand various aspects of agriculture, including the green revolution. From a layman’s point of view, we need to understand the origin of agriculture because it is a source of employment, can protect the environment or ecosystem, preserve species, and act as a source of food for our existence or survival. Studying plants is also important because it expounds our knowledge regarding the life process on our planet. We learn how plants protect themselves from animals through features such as thorns and how they store food in tubers, as is the case in beet, among others.

One of the things I like about our classes is the use of pictures to accompany texts. Pictures are easily remembered, unlike texts. They boost reading comprehension by offering the reader visual clues about what the text is highlighting. In some instances, pictures can communicate without the need for text. For example, the Origins of Agriculture has an image of people visibly hunting deer, which is herbivorous and, as such, often depends on plants for survival.
