Hello there, I hope everyone is fine. I miss you people a lot and can’t wait for the end of our mission here. I really miss home and have learnt to appreciate the peace back there. Out here, the environment is crazy, full of risky occurrences and we have to be very careful in everything we do. Do not let anyone lie to you that soldiers do not get afraid, we do.
After we were posted to this place, it did not take long for me to experience real fear. It was in a little Dutch town located in the Dutch North Sea coast, very similar to our town in terms of its size. Our landing was scary but not so much as it was just an imagined form of fright bone out of the curiosity of what would happen next. We landed in the morning and spent the entire day resting a few hundred yards off the shore. The sound of the sea waves and the sight of the wreckages prompted many questions in my mind. As I was still drowned in my thoughts, a sniper aimed a potshot at me, which made me jump up and back to my senses, with my heart beating very fast. However, this was incomparable to what I would experience that night.
At midnight, with a half-moon lighting the Normandy orchards quite brightly, I had been assigned to work as an artillery liaison officer in the Division war tent.
