Background
In the study by Tandon et al. (2018), the researchers evaluated whether the implementation of Mothers and Babies (MB), a cognitive-behavioral intervention was efficacious in reducing depression. Mothers and Babies (MB 1-on-1) were adopted and implemented, and there was a focus on the acceptability and feasibility of the intervention when home visitors got involved. During Covid-19 lockdowns and travel restrictions, strong social support and physical activity are factors that enhance expectant mothers' coping capabilities (Gildner et al., 2020). The research's objective was to describe the adaptation of the Mothers and Babies intervention and its acceptability and feasibility (Tandon et al., 2018). The research question is whether MB 1-on-1 is effective, acceptable, and feasible in managing and treating postpartum depression.
Hengartner et al. (2021) focused on antidepressants recommended by Swiss general practitioners for the treatment of depression. Determining the most effective treatments for depression is critical to improving outcomes, including physical health. The research objective was to determine Swiss GPs' choice of depression medication based on recommendations and how this issue influenced their clinical-decision making. Antidepressants have different effects on depressive symptoms, and proper screening and diagnosis are needed to determine the most appropriate treatment options.

These articles support the need for non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions for postpartum depression to reduce depressive symptoms and improve mental health. The effectiveness of non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions combined with health monitoring and adequate professional services is beneficial. Various non-pharmacological approaches have been adopted as health interventions in combination with antidepressant medications to manage depression, and psychotherapy approaches are the main non-pharmacological interventions.
Method of Study
The research by Tandon et al. (2018) focuses on the MB 1-to-1 approach, adapted and implemented by female visitors, providing supportive communication and educational information. Participants were placed into control and test groups. The goal of the MB 1-to-1 approach is to provide cognitive-behavioral interventions to participants in group sessions and group curricula. The intervention can be delivered individually or in groups, and the home visitors learn or get training on implementing cognitive-behavioral therapy. Home visitors can visit a pregnant mother at her convenience. However, there are limits to generalizing the research as the study population was pregnant mothers while there was no follow-up. The MB 1-on-1 intervention is a form of psychological intervention for perinatal depression prevention or treatment (Tandon et al., 2018).
