Technology is a crucial part of medicine in modern medical operations. Technology is improving patients’ safety in multiple ways, such as facilitating communication between medical professionals, reducing medical errors, and providing access to information. Various healthcare professionals are involved in a patient’s medical journey, increasing medical errors or miscommunication. Electronic health records reduce communication errors by gathering and maintaining patients’ information in one record, thus preventing communication errors that result in adverse health results (Foisey, 2017). Also, technology has improved patients’ safety by reducing medication errors. Electronic prescribing allows clinicians to send prescriptions directly to the pharmacy, thus reducing prescription errors.
