Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by weakened bones, making them more susceptible to fractures. It's essential to understand both modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors when addressing this condition. Non-modifiable risk factors include age, gender, and genetics. Aging is a significant risk factor, as bone density naturally decreases with age (Wilson-Barnes et al., 2022). Women are also more prone to osteoporosis, especially after menopause, due to hormonal changes that affect bone health. Genetics play a role, as a family history of the condition can increase one's susceptibility. Modifiable risk factors offer opportunities for intervention. Inadequate nutrition, particularly a deficiency in calcium and vitamin D, can contribute to weak bones (Pouresmaeili et al., 2018). A sedentary lifestyle, a lack of weight-bearing exercise, and smoking can also increase the risk. Excessive alcohol consumption and certain medications, like long-term steroid use, are additional modifiable factors to consider (Pouresmaeili et al., 2018). Nurses can play a vital role in supporting patients with osteoporosis. They can educate patients about the importance of a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D while also emphasizing weight-bearing exercises that promote bone health. Smoking cessation and alcohol reduction counseling should be provided to those with these habits. Medication management is crucial. Nurses can help patients understand their prescribed medications and adhere to their treatment plans. Regular monitoring and follow-ups ensure that the therapy remains effective (Valenzuela-Martínez et al., 2023). Fall prevention is equally important. Nurses can assess a patient's home environment for hazards and offer recommendations for making it safer. Furthermore, they can provide guidance on balance exercises and assistive devices. Nurses should promote patient empowerment by fostering self-care behaviors, including medication adherence, exercise, and dietary choices. They can offer emotional support and connect patients with support groups for shared experiences and coping strategies (ValenzuelaMartínez et al., 2023)

Discussion Response
Osteoporosis demands awareness because most individuals do not report signs early; thus, a regular bone density scan is recommended. Inappropriate treatment in older people might lead to worsened osteoporosis, especially hip, forearm, and vertebrae fractures, which are more prone to fracture. Anti-resorptive treatments
