Despite these and other challenges, however, evidence-based approaches are increasingly used to inform health policy decision-making regarding causes of disease, intervention strategies, and issues impacting society. One example is the introduction of childhood vaccinations and the use of evidence-based arguments surrounding their safety.

Over the years, there has been an increase in the number of people smoking tobacco. However, smoking has been the cause of some health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke. In addition to affecting the individual smoking, it also affects the other nearby people. If this case is not managed, it would increase the number of ill people, which could increase the amount that the government will set aside to treat these conditions. The negative impact of smoking has prompted the government to collaborate with healthcare professionals to look for measures to control it.
