Hall’s Nursing Framework
Lydia Hall introduced three primary aspects of an individual as a patient, namely the body, the person, and the disease. She asserted that these things are overlapping circles of cure, core, and care that affect each other. Hall stated that nursing primarily focuses on the provision of intimate bodily care (Smith, 2019). She believed that the exclusive field of medicine was disease and it involves treatment and pathology.
Hall’s nursing framework is known as the core, care, and cure model. In particular, it is the nursing part that focuses on intimate bodily care, including dressing, bathing, moving, feeding, positioning, and toileting (Smith, 2019). Based on Hall’s perspective, nursing is needed when individuals cannot take care of their bodily activities for themselves. In the care aspect, proper nursing intervention is crucial to provide specific patients’ needs (Umara, 2018). As such, it should be perceived as a nursing process that involves interpersonal relationships.
