What I Learned
The videos and the book reveal that many issues and concerns characterize the US healthcare system. However, this is not surprising because, for many years, there have been debates on the healthcare system's issues. Central to these issues and debates is the cost of healthcare in the US compared to other high-income countries. In the US, the cost of healthcare is higher, but the quality remains relatively the same as that of other high-income countries (Weiss et al., 2019). So what is the cause of the high cost of care?
My Reaction
The videos have revealed something surprising. They have indicated that in the US, people are paying a high cost for healthcare because the government lacks leverage over healthcare providers (CrashCourse, 2016.; Vlogbrothers, 2013).
