Patient advocacy is a crucial aspect of contemporary medical society. Patient advocacy is essential and based on specific values, including patient freedom, equality, and preservation of human dignity. A patient advocate is responsible for communicating the expectations and desires of the patients for effective decision-making in healthcare (Moynihan & Bero, 2017). Patient advocacy is essential since it enhances quality care among the patients regardless of possible constraints. Nurses play a critical role in patient advocacy since they work actively to ensure that the patients receive quality care. The patients adequately trust their nurses. Most of their hopes are based on the nurses; therefore, they provide constant updates and remain culturally competent for the patients Tomaschewski-Barlem et al., 2017). The nurses must also advocate for the patient's needs on time to reduce any possible miscommunications that adversely impact the patients. Therefore, the nurses adequately advocate for patient needs and desires in achieving quality healthcare.
