The RN to BSN program at Grand Canyon University meets the requirements for clinical competencies as defined by CCNE and AACN using non-traditional experiences for practicing nurses. These experiences come in the form of direct and indirect care experiences in which licensed nursing students engage in learning within the context of their hospital organization, their specific care discipline and their local communities.
This activity is intended to foster demonstration of skills related to leadership and management.
Share your written proposal with your manager, supervisor or other colleague in a formal leadership position within a health care organization. Request their feedback using the following questions as prompts:
1 Do you believe the proposal would be approved if formally proposed?
I believe the supervisor would approve the proposal. Firstly, there has been an increase in the number of patients with chronic diseases visiting the emergency department (ED). Such an increase is a major concern for the healthcare facility and policymakers. The proposed quality improvement project seeks to address these concerns by improving the quality of care for such patients. This will reduce the number of such patients getting readmitted to the facility. Secondly, the proposed project aligns with the organization's mission, vision and values. The entity seeks to improve the quality of services to the clients. The facility believes in offering high-quality services to health outcomes, lower hospitalization rates, and offer better patient experience. Since the proposed project aligns with the facility's objectives, the supervisor would be willing to approve it.

When they visit frequently, this increases the costs of the facility since more resources are needed to support them. Improving the quality of care to ED patients, the facility would minimize their readmission and hence reduce operating costs. At the same time, it will attract more clients since they know they will save costs when they get services from the facility. Lastly, the proposed project has an evaluation plan. It will be evaluated through patient outcomes, satisfaction levels among healthcare providers, patient satisfaction, and expenses associated with healthcare. The plan for evaluating the project’s effectiveness will ensure that adjustments are made to ensure the project’s success. When proposing, it is important to continuously make the necessary adjustments to address any challenges in its implementation. Since the supervisor will be assured that the necessary...
