A heart-lung transplant refers to a surgical procedure performed to treat individuals with life-threatening or severe health conditions that affect their lungs and heart. In most cases, transplantation is done when a donated heart and lungs from a donor are used to replace similar organs of the sick person. Before performing a heart-lung transplantation, all other treatment options are explored since this surgery has a high probability of complications. The paper critiques and evaluates three websites addressing the current status of heart-lung transplants.
The first website that depicts the current status of heart-lung transplants is the National Health Service (NHS) Inform. NHS Inform is a credible government website, meaning that the information in it is valid. One of the things about this website that is outstanding is the table of content at the beginning. Some of the sections displayed include introduction, necessity, use, and how the transplantation is done among others (NHS Inform, 2023). Based on the website, the primary medical issue of why a heart-lung transplant is conducted is congenital heart disease. A congenital heart disease entails a defect that occurs before a child is born. For instance, the heart valves of a baby might not be well-formed during birth or there are holes in the heart chambers. Other medical problems that might require a heart-lung transplant are primary pulmonary hypertension and cystic fibrosis.  
Another website that discusses medical issues that might contribute to heart-lung transplantation is Medscape. Notably, the website has a table of content on the left side, which make it easy to navigate. Cardiopulmonary transplantation is a viable therapeutic procedure for individuals with severe diseases, such as irreparable congenital cardiac issues, sarcoidosis, and primary pulmonary hypertension.
