The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) approach is essential because it allows nurses to pursue opportunities to develop their skills continuously. The program was officially initiated in 2005 after proposals from the Intitute of Medicine were implemented. Notably, the main aim of these initiate was to address the number of medical errors and quality concerns arising from nursing care within healthcare institutions. There are reports showing that many Americans die as a result of medical errors and poor quality. Therefore, addressing these issues from the nursing education approach would ensure that nurses are prepared with the right skills, attitudes, and knowledge to nehance the quality and safety standards within clinical settings. These are essential consideration and guarantee positive outcomes during nursing care.
Through the program, the nursing practice is continually aligned to evidence-based and best practices and standards. The measures being implemented are intended to transform nursing care approaches and guarantee positive outcomes. There are also ways through which QSEN addresses areas such as, evidence-based practice, collaboration, teamwork, quality enhancement, and knowledge sharing. These are incentives to reform how and what nurses offer during clinical care, guaranteeing optimal safety standards and mitigate any risks for harm (Flavin, 2018).
Stakeholder feedback is an essential element in the QSEN outcomes that directly influences the curricular design to enhance the outcomes.
