  1. 1.       Family Hotline Project:

Create a Remote Learning Support Hotline for families at your placement to assist families with remote-learning content (academic and social-emotional family support). 

Part One

1. Compose a letter to families in your placement that include your teaching philosophy and family engagement philosophy.

Part Two

1. The family support content will include 3-4 domain areas identified in the New York State Learning Guidelines for Early Education, PreK Foundation for the Common Core or NYS Common Core.

2. Hotline information must include interactive online hyperlinks for parents/guardians to engage in activities, lessons, and/or family support agencies identified for each content area. Explain the benefit and/or guide families on how to utilize the website/resource.

RE: Teaching Philosophy and Family Engagement Philosophy
A personal journey as a teacher and with learners is a critical driving force in education. The process is mutual. Respect and appreciation for stakeholders’ input are central to achieving optimum outcomes for the educator, learner, family, and other stakeholders. My approach as an educator focuses on contributing knowledge, skills, and expertise to the audience. Therefore, teaching is a lifelong process. I emphasize the need for discipline at all levels. I am open to observing, learning, and implementing lessons obtained from other educators and the audience. A conservative approach is limiting in education.
My approach to families and children is built on three core beliefs:
1 Children have an inborn desire and ability to learn at birth, which should be encouraged through activities and support.
2 Children learn as they participate in plays. Their programs should integrate plays as their fundamental approach to content delivery.
3 Children reach optimum learning capabilities through the cooperation of adults in their lives.
Families are systems interacting at the internal and external environments in the sociocultural environment. Therefore, they must be approached patiently. They operate within cultural frameworks, social systems, economic environments, and political atmospheres. These elements must be integrated and considered when approaching families. Therefore, this support center is dedicated to impacting the audience by offering information on communication, physical and development health, and social and emotional development in early education. The platform is also dedicated to learning from them.
