In 1976, Steve Jobs and his colleague, Steve Wozniak established Apple Inc. With time, the company has grown to be one of the biggest technology firms worldwide. Besides, its headquarters are in Cupertino, California. Apple Inc. manufactures, markets, and designs computers, smartphones, media devices and mobile communication, and portable music players. Some of the commodities produced by the firm include iPads, Apple Watches, iPods, Apple TVs, and iPhones. Additionally, Apple Inc. makes software applications, such as iOS, watchOS, and OS X, which are usually used in its electronic devices (Reuters.com, 2019). The company provides services such as Apple Pay and iCloud. Apple’s performance in the technology industry is outstanding, and the company has obtained a significant market share internationally.
Apple’s Competitive Marketplace
Apple Inc. has many competitors. However, the four primary business rivals are Samsung Electronics Limited, Microsoft Corporation, Amazon.com, and Huawei Technologies Company. Other competitors include Google Inc., Sony Corporation, Lenovo Group Limited, Acer Inc., Asus Tek Computer Inc., and Toshiba, among others (Jurevicius, 2017). Apple Inc. is among the leading firms domestically. The company has dominated the local market since it produces high-quality products and services. Internationally, Apple Inc. is also among enterprises with a significant market share. The strengths of the company are a renowned brand name, high-quality electronic products, innovativeness, and high profits (Smithson, 2019). The weaknesses of Apple Inc. are high-priced products, dependence on high-end customers, incompatibility of its software applications with other electronic devices, and limited supply chains.
Apple’s Stock Prices over the Past Twelve Months
For the quarter that ended in June 2019, Apple Inc. reported revenues that were above its expectations. As of 22nd November 2019, the AAPL stock prices closed at $261.78 (Leswing, 2019).
