Chemistry is not that difficult,
Let me tell you why.
You just have to understand the basics,
And everything falls in place.
Bonds are the basics,
To understanding Chemistry.
Think of bonds as team-playing,
Understanding them is grasping the whole,
Bonds make atoms come together,
Thereby allowing magic to happen.
There are two types of bonding,
One is ionic and the other covalent.
Ionic bonds are also called electrovalent bonds,
Because their linkage involves oppositely charged ions (Class Text, 2022)
Think of ionic bonds as movement,
Exchanges between partners.
In an ionic bond, electrons are moved,
From one atom to another.
The outermost electrons of one atom,
Jump permanently to another atom.
The atoms give positive and negative ions,
Which attract one ion to another.
In time, the positive and negative ions,
Are organized to alternate and balance (Vladušić et al., 2016).
So that the overall charge is zero,
Neither positive nor negative.
Is that not iconic and difficult to forget,
Bond, their name is ionic bonds.
