The film is set at Welton Academy which is an all-boys school founded on tradition and excellence. The administration of the school is anti-youth and they have structured lessons for the students. A new English teacher John Keating who was also an old student arrives to teach them English. Mr. Keating is indeed a great English teacher and he immediately changes the perception of the students about learning.
