The Mexican invasion represents a time in history when the US was referred to as a nation of conquest. The invasion of Mexico began with a territorial dispute that eventually grew into war. In the end, the border and the destinies of both nations changed forever. According to the movie, Invasion of Mexico directed by Jim Lindsay, after nearly two years of fierce fighting, the US acquired half of Mexico land the present day southwest from Texas to California (JLFilms 12).
The documentary is part of the series produced to mark the 150 anniversary of the US –Mexican War examines the significance and the impact of the war that is still felt today.
