The Foundation of ethical code is different for every individual. Some people see moral principles as what the law requires of them; for others, ethics has to do with their religious beliefs. For others, ethics is based on what society accepts as right. In doing greater good is always characterized by sacrifices either on a personal or social level. Holding on personal principles can sometimes seem selfish, especially if it leads to the downfall of others. A great ruler should be willing to sacrifice for the sake of others. They should be motivated by the fact idea that their sacrifice is for the greater good of others. In the story Ramayana, Rama killed Ravana and his sons even though it was against his godly principles to free the men he ruled and the gods from fear. In another incident, Rama prioritized choosing societal value over personal principles when he ordered his wife Sita to leave after the society asked him too since. Sita had stayed in the house of Ravana for along time. They were because she was married, which was unacceptable in their society (Buck 400). Rama's traits make him an ideal ruler since he is willing to set aside his principal for the greater good of society. Human beings portray different characters, and in our daily lives, we come across immoral and practice deceit.
