“Ways of Seeing” by Berger is a 1972 BAFTA award winning BBC series which has received acclaim all over the world for its keen eye on the impact of photography in relation to how people are able to see and interpret issues as they appear as compared to the past. In his findings, Berger is keen to discover the manner in which women and men are portrayed in the paintings that most cases are static though they have a potential to move from one point to the next depending on how the observer assigns meaning to them. The individual interpretation of the paintings creates is what comes out clearly. To some extent, Berger depicts that men and women alike have the legitimacy to have women under a microscope depending on the cultural setup.
Berger is also keen to observe culturally the way men are looked at is just as a result of the expectations of the world of them based on their potency, which in essence is all about man’s ability and power. On the other hand, the world tends to image women as self-centred and as such, they are able to manipulate what can be done to her and not really by herself.
