CULTURALLY AND POLITICALLY CORRECT
The element of struggle among the people that do not have the same privileges as the rest of the community is a serious issue. For lesbians, this is a daily struggle where they are left to wallow in the mud of social criticism, as they are considered unnatural. They have to fight to maintain their friends and their family and even struggle with accepting themselves. It is the element of accepting themselves that is the hardest (Girlboss, 2018). They are constantly fighting the war in the mind where they consider their sexuality as a disease. How can they even accept themselves when the rest of the society is treating them as outcasts? This is the same case when it comes to those that or not of the majority opinion. For example, those that are against the Trump administration are seen as outsiders, but not many consider their reasons for their opinion and that matters to them. They are simply treated differently.
Watching the film, there is a theme of rebellion and mostly in reference to aspects that are considered uncommon among many in the society (Pariah, 2011). Ideally, society confines us to a box where one has to act and do as is required (Girlboss, 2018). For those that willing to color outside the lines, they are considered as outcasts. They are considered uncultured (Pariah, 2011).
