Title of the Paper: Philosophy in Ex Machina
Released in 2014, Ex Machina is a science fiction movie by Alex Garland. The leading roles are played by Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, and Sonoya Mizuno. The story of this movie is about a programmer who is invented to administer the Turing test to one of the most intelligent humanoid robots. The nature of consciousness is the main theme of this movie.
Ex Machina has entirely centered around the Turing test that Domnhall Gleeson (Caleb) is required to conduct in order to determine whether or not Oscar Isaac (Nathan) is the creator of a conscious machine. The movie has nicely discussed simulated AI versus true AI early on.
