Work chosen (title only)
The work chosen is from melody and harmony. Singularity performed by Chris Sacco, Cole Belt, Scotty Phillips, and Bryan McNamara.
Is this piece a song? How do you know?
The piece selected is a song because of its chord progression proceeds from fragile to the firm, and it shows a steady harmonic rhythm. Also, the piece has built energy on the rhythmic intensity and melodic range as it proceeds). Singularity is a saxophone that was performed by a quartet to build relationships via live performances. The horn is a combination of feelings and life understandings that the four musicians share.
Instrumentation
The instruments used in the performance are clarinet. The device used has much fingering including the sax, oboe, salute and the English horn.
Identify and explain the texture
The texture of the music is monophonic. The simultaneous improvisations of the four musicians create a true polyphony.
Approximate tempo
The approximate tempo of the production is about 20-40 beats per minute, varying from minute to another.
Two sentences about the form: (For example, were there sections with different tempos? Solo versus ensemble playing? Any repetition? Etc.)
The musical form is symphony as it consists of a single piece instrument performed by the quartet. The work is an ensemble because it consists of four musicians who are performing as a whole. The melody consists of successive repetitions and variations which remain perceptible throughout the performance (Kovalenko, 2019). The relation between the consecutive repetition and changes are essential in bringing out the form of the song. One unique thing about this kind of music is that they have recognizable melodies and each of the musicians takes turns improvising and playing all sorts of notes from high, short, low and clear.
Drawing Connections
Connect any of the pieces performed to course material. Your connections do not have to relate to each other. Make sure to explain your connections:
Connection to specific unit
The performance connects to different class units, which include instruments such as saxophones used in the product...
