Strategic Quality Planning
Strategic quality planning entails the contents and processes that are involved in the strategic plan of any organization. The process of quality improvement involves several factors, such as identifying areas that can be improved, giving priority to areas that need improvement, and having a plan on how to implement projects and enhancements. Strategic quality planning is enabled by several constant variables, which include: time, leadership, quality costs, and quality as a core competency, among others.
Reasons Time is Essential in Quality Improvement
Past experiences have demonstrated that time plays a significant role in the improvement of quality. In essence, time entails two aspects which are: time used in the achievement of business goals and speed at which companies attain growth. More so, time is significant in ensuring effective management of quality improvement schedules. Firms are continuously seeking to achieve quick improvement in the long-term to ensure they attain benefits like increasing their market share and improving their sales. Managers aim to provide that they can help make the goals of an organization. Setting short-term goals to attain high-quality levels may prove to be challenging for managers to manage these goals. In this sense, the process of quality improvement requires adequate time, and managers must understand the effects of rapid quality improvement (Foster 86).
Leadership for Quality
Leadership entails the process in which leaders influence their subordinates towards the achievement of particular set goals. The goals are not only aimed at the individuals but also the organization as a whole. Leadership is achieved through different ways, and leaders have a duty of enhancing quality improvement through sharing power with their followers. Moreover, leaders need to have several skills, including knowledge, communication, planning abilities, and vision. All these skills are vital in ensuring that leaders can establish a coherent plan in their decision-making process. More so, leaders and quality managers need to ensure they have a commitment plan that will help in the long run. In this sense, leaders must ensure that their quality improvement process is done through having several long-term commitments and plans. In relation, leaders must provide their followers with the necessary funds, slack time, and resources needed to ensure that the quality improvement process is effective. The leaders’ commitment efforts are measured in the long-term like decades and not quarters or budget cycles (Foster 88).
Quality and Ethics
Quality and ethics are two concepts that are much related to ensure the formation of a good business. It is almost impossible to separate quality and ethics. In essence, it is unethical to provide customers intentionally will defective products. Firms that ensure they have reliable products and low defect rates demonstrate that managers have adopted an ethical approach towards their customers.
