1. We are currently living through a pandemic that will be taught in History of Medicine courses in the future. Pretend that you are an historian working in the year 2120. Write a description of the corona virus outbreak that could appear in a History of Medicine textbook. Describe what scientists and public health professionals in 2020 thought was the cause of the disease (I don't expect you to have any complex scientific knowledge, just the most basic scientific explanation), how they believed that it was spreading, what measures were taken by governments to control it, how the news media reported on it, and how the public reacted and behaved during the outbreak. History takes us to 2020 when a virus broke in China. It was first reported in December 2019, but the effects were not so huge until 2020 when several countries reported cases of the virus. At first, people thought it would end quickly, but its complex nature and faster spread caused even more alert to medical researchers. After thorough investigation, it was reported that the virus spread through droplets from an infected individual, surfaces where the virus stayed for long. These also happened when people came to contact with one another. Governments, including the United States, took rapid measures to contain the virus from spreading.
