1 Why do religions persist and grow in this era, despite that fact that the civilizations that they are associated with either collapse or diminish?
Religion was and still is based on a belief system. These religions spread across the continents through trade and cultural interactions. In the long run, even after the collapse of civilizations associated with them, these religions still persisted since they were based on faith rather than a sociopolitical framework. People continued being united by the faith rather than the kinship, during such tough times of collapse of civilizations. In actual sense, the more the hardship experienced during the time, the stronger the religion became.
