Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case dealt with rules and regulations of political campaigns spreading by organizations. In 2010, the United States Supreme Court announced that the labor unions, independent organizations, non-profit firms, and all associations would have to restrict themselves from delivering free speeches. The announcement created restlessness among the conservatives and liberals. The conservatives were not as worried as the liberals were. They believed that they had a right to deliver free speeches and that the government should not stop them from speaking of their minds. On the other hand, the conservatives claimed that free speeches could cause problems for the entire nation and that the decision of the United States Supreme Court to ban them is absolutely right. In this case, a conservative non-profit organization titled Citizens United had sought to air a film critical of Hillary Clinton. They advertised the film right after the 2008 Democratic primary election. The decision of the court was said to be controversial and a subject to widespread media and public discussion.

A voter ID law requires people to show their identification, such as ID card, driving license or another similar document, before they vote or receive ballots for the election. In jurisdictions requiring these IDs, the voters have to present identification documents that carry their clear photos.
